Gladys Lehman was among the founders of the Screenwriters Guild (later the Writers Guild of America). He has penned many screenplays, particularly during the 1930s, including such Shirley Temple films as Poor Little Rich Girl (1936) and On Your Toes (1939). In 1944, Lehman was nominated for an Oscar for the musical Two Girls and a Sailor.
