A tall, gray-haired supporting actor from England, Arthur Clayton reportedly came to Los Angeles for his health after having been gassed in World War I. Clayton appeared on Los Angeles stages in White Cargo prior to launching a screen career playing mostly distinguished Englishmen. Onscreen in America 1919-1934, Clayton returned to his native country where he continued his career in minor supporting roles.
