Charles Ogle was a stage actor of some thirty years' standing when he entered films at the Edison company in 1907. Ogle's most famous role was the Monster in Edison's 1910 adaptation in Frankenstein, though it was hardly his first brush with the Classics; in 1909 alone he had appeared in one-reel versions of The Prince and the Pauper and Michael Strogoff. He went on to play featured roles in such major productions as DeMille's The Squaw Man (1918 remake) and The Ten Commandments (1923). Charles Ogle was 61 when he retired from films in 1926; he lived to the ripe old age of 76.
