American author Charles Spencer Belden was the man responsible for the three-act play The Mystery of the Wax Museum, which though never produced in New York was memorably filmed twice by Warner Bros., the second time as the 3-D classic House of Wax. Most of Belden's time in Hollywood was spent at Warners, contributing additional dialogue for already-completed screenplays. He was also brought in to punch up the script for Universal's Dracula's Daughter, adding some welcome comic relief. Charles Spencer Belden's other screenwriting credits include three of Fox's Charlie Chan pictures and several of producer Harry Sherman's Hopalong Cassidy westerns.
