Was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 1986, and made his Major League debut in 1988 after being traded to the Baltimore Orioles. Played in four World Series, and won championships in three of them. Shared the World Series MVP Award with pitcher Randy Johnson in 2001 with the Arizona Diamondbacks. After an ankle injury, wore the famous "bloody sock" in 2004 ALCS and World Series game victories. The sock is now in the Hall of Fame. Purchased former NFL quarterback Drew Bledsoe's house in Medfield, MA. Does charity work for ALS, melanoma prevention and Asperger Syndrome. Campaigned for George W. Bush and John McCain in presidential races. An avid gamer, owns a company that produces electronic games. Retired in March of 2009.
