Before becoming a screenwriter, Philadelphia native Don Martin was a poet, playwright, and a newspaper journalist. In the '40s, he began working as a journalist for the Hollywood Reporter and then became a PR man for various major studios including United Artists and MGM. He got into screenwriting when he was asked to help adapt one of his books into a feature. He mainly wrote B-movie scripts for Universal. Later, Martin wrote teleplays for a variety of series including Racket Squad.
