American screenwriter Doris Schroeder came to films in 1913; her first assignment was the now-lost Heart of a Jewess. During the 1920s, Schroeder specialized in "women's pictures" for such specialized directors as Lois Weber. After a period of inactivity, she returned to films with the independently produced Crimson Romance. Thereafter, and until her retirement in 1949, Doris Schroeder concentrated on Westerns, including several entries in the Hopalong Cassidy series.
