Ewart Adamson

A Hollywood screenwriter from 1922, Ewart Adamson turned out scripts for virtually every sort of genre until his retirement in 1943. Adamson's silent credits include the potboiler adventure pieces Flaming Fury (1926) and Desert Blades (1927). Free-lancing in the 1930s, he contributed the original stories for such above-average efforts as RKO's Annie Oakley (1935, with Barbara Stanwyck) and Warners' The Walking Dead (1936, with Boris Karloff). During his occasional stopovers to Columbia, he worked extensively for that studio's short-subjects department, constructing screenplays for comedians ranging from Franklin Pangborn to the Three Stooges. Ewart Adamson's final known credit was the Monogram musical Campus Rhythm (1943).
