George Wells penned the screenplays for numerous light films of the '40s and '50s. Born in New York, the son of a vaudevillian/writer, he began his career as a radio writer following studies at New York University. In the mid-'40s, Wells went to work for MGM where he wrote screenplays alone or in collaboration. He earned an Oscar for his script for Designing Woman (1957).
