Jack Hively

Feature film and television director Jack B. Hively is best-known in Hollywood for having directed many feature film episodes of The Saint from the late '30s through the '40s. He started out working for RKO (the company that produced the series) in 1939 and that year made five features, including his debut Panama Lady. Prior to becoming a filmmaker, Hively worked as a film editor from 1934 to 1939. He moved to Paramount in 1942, but soon after directing Street of Chance (1942), he joined the Army Signal Corps. Hively left the military at the war's end with the rank of Major. Upon his discharge, he found work at Universal. Some of Hively's television credits include directing episodes of Death Valley Days and Lassie.
