American screenwriter John C. Higgins specialized in complex murder mysteries during the 1930s and 1940s. Higgins' credits include Murder Man (1935), which served as the feature-film debut of James Stewart, and Kid Glove Killer (1942), director Fred Zinnemann's first full-length effort.
