American screenwriter M. Coates Webster began working in films in 1939. At first, Webster specialized in South Sea melodramas, then for many years stuck to Westerns. In 1945, he briefly abandoned both genres to work on the Rondo Hatton horror melodrama The Brute Man. M. Coates Webster apparently retired in 1953.
