Swedish actress Noomi Rapace was born into a show business family, with a mother involved in acting and a father who worked as a flamenco singer. By the age of seven, Rapace was making minor appearances in movies and TV shows in her adoptive home of Iceland, where she moved at age five with her mother and stepfather. At 15, the burgeoning performer returned to Sweden and enrolled in Stockholm Theatre School, and just a few years later, she was scoring paid roles on camera. She would spend the '90s and 2000s earning numerous accolades both on-stage and in film in Europe, though she would become an international sensation when she was cast as iconic character Lisbeth Salander in the big-screen adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, the first in a popular series of Swedish books. The film transcended borders and became a hit in the U.S., as well, and she would reprise the role for two sequels. By 2011, Rapace was taking her talent directly to English-speaking audiences, appearing in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes 2, and following that up the next year as the lead in Ridley Scott's Alien prequel Prometheus.

Quotes from Noomi Rapace's Characters
Elizabeth Shaw: | Final report of the vessel Prometheus. The ship and her entire crew are gone. If you're receiving this transmission, make no attempt to come to its point of origin. There is only death here now, and I'm leaving it behind. It is New Year's Day, the year of our Lord, 2094. My name is Elisabeth Shaw, last survivor of the Prometheus. And I am still searching. |
Madam Simza Heron: | A wagon is too slow. Can't you ride? |
Dr. John Watson: | It's not that he can't ride. How is it that you put it, Holmes? |
Sherlock Holmes: | (Horses) They're dangerous at both ends and crafty in the middle. Why would I want anything with a mind of its own bobbing about between my legs? |
Sherlock Holmes: | [horses] They're dangerous at both ends and crafty in the middle. Why would I want anything with a mind of its own bobbing about between my legs? |
Meredith Vickers: | What's that on its head? |
Elizabeth Shaw: | It's a new cell. In state of change. |
Meredith Vickers: | Changing into what? |
Elizabeth Shaw: | My name is Elisabeth Shaw, last survivor of the Prometheus... And I am still searching. |
Elizabeth Shaw: | If we don't stop it, there won't be a home to go back to! |
David: | The answer is irrelevant. Does it matter why they changed their minds? |
Elizabeth Shaw: | Yes. Yes it does. |
Fifield: | I don't understand. |
David: | Well... I guess that's because I'm a human being, and you're a robot. |
David: | But, may I ask what you hope to achieve by going there? |
Elizabeth Shaw: | They created us then they tried to kill us. They changed their minds. I deserve to know why. |
Elizabeth Shaw: | I don't want to go back where we came from. I want to go where they came from. You think you can do that, David? |
David: | Yes. I believe I can... |
Elizabeth Shaw: | Wait, we don't know what's on the other side. |
David: | Whoops, sorry. |
Elizabeth Shaw: | I don't want to go where we came from. I want to go where they came from. |
David: | I don't understand. |
Elizabeth Shaw: | Well, maybe that's because I'm human and you're a robot. |
Elizabeth Shaw: | Prometheus, are you seeing this? |
Elizabeth Shaw: | [in an alien chamber] Prometheus, are you seeing this? |
Elizabeth Shaw: | You don't understand, this place isn't what we thought it was. I was wrong. We were so wrong. We must leave! |
David: | Elizabeth, are you there? |
Elizabeth Shaw: | Yes I'm here... |
David: | Run, Elizabeth, run fast! He's coming after you! |
David: | We can go back to where we came from... |
Elizabeth Shaw: | I don't want go to back to where we came from. I want to go where they came from. You think you can do that, David? |
Elizabeth Shaw: | I don't want to go back where we're from. I want to go where THEY came from. |
David: | Yes, I believe I can. May I ask what you hope to achieve by going there? |
David: | And then what? What would you do there? |
Elizabeth Shaw: | They created us. Then they tried to kill us. They changed their minds. I deserve to know why. |
Elizabeth Shaw: | I want to know why they created us humans, then suddenly decided to destroy us. |
David: | The answer is irrelevant. It doesn't matter why they changed their minds. |
David: | Why do you wanna know the truth? |
Elizabeth Shaw: | Yes - yes, it does. |
Elizabeth Shaw: | Because I deserve to know the truth. you would never understand. You're a robot. |
David: | I don't understand. |
