American director Raymond K. Johnson dwelt almost exclusively in "poverty row" productions. Johnson's first film was Suicide Squad (1935), produced by Puritan Productions and starring future director Norman Foster. Most of his subsequent efforts were westerns, filmed under the banner of Monogram Pictures. In 1940, Raymond K. Johnson directed all eight of cowboy-star Jack Randall's starring vehicles, then apparently retired from the business.
