Born in Budapest, Hungary, filmmaker Steve Sekely, born Istvan Szekely, first worked as a journalist and short story writer before going on to direct scores of German, Austrian, and Hungarian films. Sekely came to the U.S. in 1938, directing mediocre-quality B-movies and television shows. From the 1950s on, he continued to infrequently make films in Europe.
