Began his career in stand-up comedy. For a while he acted with the Royal Shakespeare Company before taking on his first movie role in the early 60's. His most notable guest appearance was in the sitcom Only Fools and Horses in 1989; the episode had over 16 million viewers. Guest starred on Emmerdale as two different characters. His last on-screen appearance was in the series Doctors in 2000.
