This film stars Elvis Presley as Johnny, a Mississippi gambler and Donna Douglas as his girlfriend Frankie. In keeping with the old ballad, Frankie and Johnny's romance is threatened by the intervention of seductress Nellie Bly. Nellie brings Johnny luck at the gaming tables, while Frankie sees red.

Sometimes Elvis Presley's movies are campy fun, but sometimes, as with Frankie and Johnny, they are lazy and dire, barely even able to muster anything ridiculous, let alone anything good.
