Dickens's immortal work has been brought to the screen beautifully. [Full review in Spanish]

Probably the thing that Polanski's Oliver Twist does best, is deliver the mood of the day

The one flaw is a forced action sequence at the end of the picture, but that's hardly a reason to avoid it.

Audience Reviews for Oliver Twist

Dickie Moore's obvious youth contributes to selling this shortened version of the popular Dickens tale of an abused orphan who escapes to the unforgiving streets of early industrial age London, only to be drafted in a gang of thieves and pickpockets. His chance to escape that fate is sidetracked, of course, by the infamous Artful Dodger and Fagin (well played by Irving Pichel), who never saw a childhood he couldn't ruin. Doris Lloyd also is excellent as the put upon wife of the murderous Bill Sykes. Not a bad production despite its overall rushed feel.
