Alec Guinness was brilliant, eloquent, comic and well dressed. Set in turn of the century Hungary (it was on the train depot's flag) the aristocratic feel was beautiful. It was a bit dry at times, but the story still packed a punch with the melodrama being surmised in a beautiful dialogue between Guinness and Kelly. Grace Kelly was stunning, But not especially good.

Fantastic movie about a woman who dreams of a simpler life which is simply unattainable. One of Grace Kelly's final films.

Excellent emotive acting by Grace Kelly and Louis Jourdan, with definitely no fairytale ending. Love it, and me some TCM!

(1956) The Swan

Story has beautiful princess (Grace Kelly) whose duty was it to wed a slightly older prince (chrismatically played by Alec Guiness) but has feelings for someone else of her own age and is a commoner who is her tutor and instructor!

Somewhat of a reflection about what happened to Grace Kelly in real life when she married a much older Prince of Monacco who after marriage retired from doing anymore films! To define this film is like somewhat of a biography for Grace Kelly! Subtle and very true to anybody who understand royalty, monarch and duty!

This is sort of a predictable romance movie with a classical touch. Kelly plays royalty, which she became in real life too, and she's perfect. The movie has some funny scenes, but it's also kind of boring sometimes. Overall it's pretty good.

Grace Kelly is luminous. She glides on screen. Loved the slapstick humor and Agnes Moorehead's sharp delivery. The story is a fairy tale that wouldn't work in today's theaters but the dreamy looking leads will charm even the cynic. The waltz looked sexier than the dirty dancing you see in clubs. Love!

Agnes Moorehead was a hoot and Alec Guinness was charming, witty and funny. Louis Jourdan and so hot but everyone did great, the ending was a plus... a complete suprise, loved it! Altogether this film was very charming.

Pretty looking but forgettable fairy tale of a princess, Grace Kelly, obliged to marry her cousin for her family to regain the throne, but she's in love with another. A great cast and excellent production value make this better than it deserved. Caught a nice widescreen presentation of this on TCM. Not available on DVD.

Guinness rocks the house.

uh, when the movie title gets priority over a standard plot, not so good.

A few parts seemed a little forced for my taste, which lost a little of the magic Grace Kelly usually has on film. The ending was a suprise because its not rich girl falls for poor boy and they all live happily ever after. But I did like the movie overall and Landis was great comedic relief.

A lovely movie!! Starring the lovely Grace Kelly (Princess Alexandra), wonderful actor Alec Guinness (Prince Albert), and last but not least, young and wonderful dashing Louis Jourdan (Tutor/Professor, Nicholas Agi), trio knows how to make a lovely film. Alexandra is to be married to the Prince, to restore the lost throne, and then at a Ball, she falls inlove with Nicholas while dancing with him. She has to make a hard choice; either marry the man she loves, or become a queen with Prince Albert. There are funny parts, allot of Royalty, and is beautifully filmed, and a good movie.
