Audience Reviews for Fright (Spell of the Hypnotist)
This isn't just a movie about hypnotism or past lives or romance, but it incorporates all of those things, which is pretty cool. I liked this movie it was a different kind of romance movie.

This movie made in 1956 and filmed in NYC is actually a better movie then I expected from Alpha Video's Grindhouse Double Shock Show. The second movie in this collection is Stark Fear. Fright aka: Spell of the Hypnotist was Directed by W. Lee Wilder know for his work in the fifties called Songs of America. Also a film called Manfish, Snow Creature, Killers from Space and Phantom from Space. . The two main actors Nancy Malone and Eric Flemming. Nancy did all kind of TV in 1960 - 1980 everything from Dr Killdare to Ironside to Lou Grant. Eric did TV and Movies a couple of other B Movies and showed up on Rawhide and Bonanza. This film Eric plays a Doctor who talks a criminal from jumping from a bridge, while doing this Nancy see' s that he hypnotist the man and she wants to be put under to find out about her self and hidden in her mind is the fact that she is possessed by a mistress of a German Prince. It is the best Lee Wilder film I have seen. And picking it up at Oldies.com or Amazon for less then eight dollars is a steal. Don't think I have given any Grindhouse Shock Show this high of a rating, but this one deserves 4 stars.
