Great classic HK actioner. Very fast. Be warned: Joey Wong appears only shortly.

Classic 80's CID flick with some good action. "Extreme over-the-top violence permeates this grim cop action picture from Tsui Hark's Film Workshop." "The filmmakers gleefully leave no stone unturned in their quest to bring all-out mayhem to the screen."

(1988) The Big Heat
(In Chinese with English subtitles)

ACTION

A different action and revenge picture regarding corrupt cops, the mob and a tape recorder!! The action sequences are different because it is not "John Woo-ish" kind of action but instead of action it uses some gory scenes on some of the action sequences such as when a cop shoots a bad guy on the forehead and it pushes him back so hard that his head was able to come completely off once hitting a sticked out metal tray or the bad guy getting himself tangled onto the elevator lines- splitting his body in half. As soon as I saw this film I was hoping that a sequel would be made as result of this, but unfortunately the film didn't do too well upon it's release.

Ultra violent Chinese action!!
Johnny To is of great importance to the HK action industry, releasing great movies even 'til today.
This one has Phillip Kwok in it..(5 Deadly venoms ring a bell?)
Waise Lee,Phillip and Matthew Wong go after some ruthless gangster named Chu Kong and lemme tell you, it's a mess!! total over the top violence!
Including a scene were some dude gets decapitated falling back on some metal piece after being shot!
AWESOME!! A HK action classic not to be missed!

I guess we can call it a over the top violent cop flick. And it's really good. Did I mention that it's lots of bloodshed? ;)

B-Movie type Hong Kong action flick. Its got your usual guns, drugs, sex and violence theme. The usual characters are there, the cool, calculating big boss bad guy, the retiring cop forced to delay his retirement to avenge a long-time friend's death and his usual entourage of bit players willing to catch a bullet for him when the story needs it. Unfortunately, it's not as good and Johnny To again piles up another boring movie I'd rather forget.
