Critic Consensus: Interesting premise, but too long and conventional.

Critic Reviews for At First Sight

All Critics (38) | Top Critics (8)

Unfortunately, its moments of fascination and its good performances are mired in the morass of romance and melodrama that surrounds it. A blind man can see, and still he's trapped in a formulaic studio plot.

January 1, 2000 | Rating: 2/4 | Full Review…

Director Irwin Winkler takes a thudding and detached approach to Steve Levitt's humanistic screenplay, but tart turns by Val Kilmer and Kelly McGillis provide the material with the conflict it requires.

December 5, 2015 | Rating: 2.5/4 | Full Review…

Most love scenes seem forced in 'At First Sight,' and the background music manipulates emotions without a trace of restraint.

May 9, 2009 | Full Review…

Kilmer registers little emotion aside from a silly grin he perpetually wears throughout the film.

At first sight this film is terrible. At second sight, it's even worse.

April 11, 2003 | Rating: 0/5

At First Sight, at second sight, at third sight - it doesn't matter how many times you look. This movie never decides what it wants to be.

Audience Reviews for At First Sight

It is an interesting observation that even if your eyes can see, you have to learn to see. The love story angle is a bit predictable.

I have no idea why Val Kilmer tried to pretend he was Batman....when it's obvious this is what he should be doing. Great work by him. A sad story. And a great Steven Weber stealing the show....that guy is gold
