Movie Info

In the summer of 2003, the East Coast of America was literally consumed by darkness. Though in the midst of the largest blackout in U.S. history most news reports spoke of the relative calm in a potentially chaotic situation, the situation in Brooklyn's East Flatbush neighborhood would soon become extremely volatile. As night fell over East Flatbush and looters came out of the shadows, violence flared and the citizens prepared for one of the most terrifying nights of their lives.

Critic Reviews for Blackout

All Critics (3)

A well-crafted, slice-of-life saga which amply illustrates how easily matters might go from bad to worse in the already-overburdened inner-city when disaster strikes in the 'hood.

there are some terribly cliched threads, including C.J.'s as the doomed upwardly mobile kid from the block, and James as the tormented witness of 9/11

Hopes to attach some larger social significance to the event, but that unfortunately falls largely flat and suffers from a derivative and sometimes vapid script.
