Movie Info

A waitress looking to make good on a series of bad life choices finds her noble quest for redemption stifled when a deeply disturbed ex-boyfriend comes looking to win her back in this dark psychological drama from director Alan White. Hope (Heather Graham) has traveled quite a few darkened roadways in her relatively brief existence, but now the time has come to leave her past behind and realize her dreams of becoming an entertainer. Soon after moving to the big city, Hope makes the acquaintance of Will (Jeremy Sisto). When the pair subsequently gets involved with drugs, Hope realizes that in order to truly get her life together she must jettison her enabler once and for all, so she cuts off all ties to Will. Unfortunately for Hope, Will is determined to take deadly measures to ensure that he and his true love always remain together -- whether in the comforting light of life or the cold embrace of death.

Formulaic soap opera has the makings of camp but the heart of an after-school special.

Broken has little of any great substance to add to the old truism that L.A. eats its young (especially those who just got off the bus from Ohio) and then picks its teeth with their hopes and dreams.

[The] script is so uneven that the result is like watching four different, equally bad, movies.

Despite good work by the two leads to put it back together again, Broken lives up to its title.

Audience Reviews for Broken

Interesting movie - I'm not sure why, but from the cover I was expecting a b-grade horror, which this definitely isn't. Actually it was much better than I expected. I was a bit confused with it at first as it keeps going back in time, but it does make sense at the end and Heather Graham is great in this.
