Movie Info

This suspenseful drama, based on a John Dickson Carr novel, chronicles a honeymoon gone awry after a bride's husband suddenly disappears. She quickly discovers that her cruise ticket was made out under her maiden name, and that her "husband" never even bough one. To make matters worse, no one on board admits to ever having seen them together. Only the ship's doctor believes the distraught bride. Together they discover the truth about her husband's disappearance.

The paranoia and suspense are exceptional, the location imparts unique chills, the notion of Ruth's isolation and aloneness are frightening, and the finale is exhilarating.

Adequate suspenser nothing more. Jeanne overacts all over the place.

Jeanne Crain is on her honeymoon. The only problem is that her husband is nowhere to be found. Was he abducted? Was he murdered? Was he merely a figment of her imagination? A plausible psychological thriller with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing until the last reel. 1950s pulp with 1940s ambiance.
