Did You Hear About the Morgans? (2009)

Critic Consensus: It gets a certain amount of mileage out of the inherent likability of its stars, but with an unfunny script and a lack of onscreen chemistry, Did You Hear About the Morgans? falls flat.

Movie Info

Highly successful Manhattan couple, Meryl and Paul Morgan, have almost-perfect lives-except for one notable failure - their dissolving marriage. But the turmoil of their romantic lives is nothing compared to what they are about to experience when they witness a murder and become targets of a contract killer. The Feds, protecting their witnesses, whisk away the Morgans from their beloved New York to a tiny town in Wyoming, and a relationship that was on the rocks threatens to end completely in the Rockies-- unless, in their new BlackBerry-free lives, the Morgans can slow down the pace and rekindle the passion.

This ultra-mild frolic follows the 'fish-out-of-water' comedy formula so closely its lack of surprise is almost, well, surprising.

In a silly way, it is entertaining, the mismatch is actually weirdly plausible, and try as I might, I couldn't be grumpy about it.

Parker is better, injecting a note of rawness and authenticity into an otherwise misconceived subplot about adoption. Even she can't fake any curiosity in, yet alone sexual chemistry with, Grant.

Perhaps this new decade could be the one in which female audiences are treated as something other than a dumping ground for the lazy, complacent idiocy that has passed for chick flicks of late.

The cinematic equivalent of throwing buckets of money at a house with no foundations. The worst thing is, and sadly for cinema, this house shows no sign of falling down any time soon.

Writer-director Marc Lawrence's film delivers some halfway decent lines for Grant to gobble up gratefully enough up until this point, but from here on in it gets worse and worse.

The movie is not very original - a couple with a troubled marriage being forced to confront their issues in an unusual circumstance. If you are looking for light humour, this movie fits the bill

Entertaining and funny enough even if entirely unsurprising, of course. Grant and Parker seemingly still enjoy playing the same character over and over and their chemistry works. Overall likable and with a few good laughs. No regrets on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

This film recieved horrible reviews when it came out; both critics and viewers ripped it apart. It's not the best movie I've ever seen. In fact, it's as average as average gets. However, I enjoy this movie alot. I've seen it multiple times and I never wished I were watching something else. I was entertained.
