Critic Reviews for Paheli
These dilemmas are underdone when they needed to be detailed. There could have been great moments...
Bollywood buffs and the Shah Rukh Khan fanbase should be well satisfied with this latest extravaganza.
Despite a great cast and colourful backdrop, Paheli is far from the musical entertainer you'd expect from a big budget project headed and produced by King Khan himself.
There's more to recommend: M.M. Kreem's fine music (melding traditional Rajasthani instrumentation and a dancehall beat), a gone-cuckoo-for-the-color-wheel costume and set design, and a truly bang-up camel race. Now that's entertainment.
Audience Reviews for Paheli
I didn't really get the ending, maybe something was lost in the translation. I thought it was interesting and cute. Songs weren't memorable.
An interesting movie! A story about love, magic, and family. Juhi Chawla, Shahrukh Khan, and Rani Mukherjee give phenomenal performances. Amitabh Bachchan gives a hilarious performance as well. Beautiful scenery.
Aesthetically pleasing and heavily influenced by eastern religion, this movie handles the sacredness of marriage sacrilegiously. While I enjoyed the spectacle and the movie was sprinkled with light humor, vibrant with bright colors, exciting music and dancing... I did not care for the message. One thing is for sure, it causes one to think deeply about who sinned in this movie. Should the husband have left his new bride? Should the wife have cheated on her husband, even though he was physically and emotionally detached for five years? The movie justifies this sin and the audience is supposed to cheer for the deceiver and adulterer, not the husband who is innocent.
