A by-the-numbers tale of inspiration through perspiration.
4 Minute Mile at least has the decency to acknowledge that it's aware of its underdog sports-movie clichés, especially the ones that made The Karate Kid such an '80s classic.
Even if the story itself has been around the track a couple of times, veterans like these know how to bring it safely home.
More than one interior scene looks underlit for effect,but that's at least something else to think about as the film goes through its paces.
It's a moving, if occasionally heavy-handed, sports drama that deserves a wider audience than it is probably going to find in its limited release.
A finely written and directed sports drama with a lead performance by rising star Kelly Blatz so deep and affecting it often evokes Timothy Hutton's Oscar-winning turn in "Ordinary People."

An overall semi good-ish running movie. I hated Cam Gigandet's character, Kelly Blatz is okay, but the one who gives it a bit depth is Richard Jenkins. The back story of Jenkin's character would have been good to know, specially how he lost his son and why, why the injury on the leg and so on. So, inconsistencies here and there, but not totally bad, just a bit cliched, but what can you do with these types of movie...
