Critic Reviews for 5 Card Stud

All Critics (2) | Top Critics (1)

Five Card Stud has the elements of an action Western: lots of gun battles, fist fights, stranglings, barroom brawls, fires, and lady barbers with hearts of gold. But it also has something rather rare, a well-made story.

Without the presence of Martin and Mitchum this would be strictly a B-Movie, but with them it becomes something quite enjoyable.

More of a murder mystery set during Western times then a Western but thats what makes it so good so if you like Western or Mystery then you got the best of both here.Look out for the murder by barbed wire.It was just brutal & the 1st time I've seen something like it

Interesting Western-Noir that would have played better without the love interest getting in the way.
