I love old italian cannibal movies!

This flick boils at low temperatures. Although the cinematography is very poor, the plot is quite interesting and the protagonist so beautiful, you cannot managed to feel deeply interested on what will happen to her among those volatile savages. You can't care less about the frame, the content is what matters in spite of all that gore.

Silly but never outright dumb Amazonia (aka White Slave, aka Cannibal Holocaust II) is a fun little exploitation tale filled with lots of nudity and violence. It contains the prerequisite nature footage including animals getting killed and eaten but its nowhere as graphic as its cannibal cousin movies.

Il faut le voir pour le croire! Un excellent souvenir d'enfance; le film Harlequin-Cannibal ultime!

Not a full-blown Cannibal movie, but it contains a lot of the standard elements that litter this trashy Italian sub-genre with some animal violence (monkey lovers beware), a bit of human gore, tribal rape, lots of naked flesh etc. The plot is very similar to Umberto Lenzi's 'Man From Deep River' but with a female lead this time as a blonde American teen who is kidnapped by a tribe of headhunters while on a family retreat in South America. This one has nothing really new to offer but still managed to entertain me as it's very silly and cheesy throughout... and of course I soaked up the bloodier moments with delight. Worth a look if you enjoy sleazy jungle romps.

Although not technically a cannibal movie (the main tribe are 'head-hunters'; cannibals feature very briefly but no cannibalism is shown), Amazonia shares enough similarities with the infamous gut-munching gore classics of the 70s and 80s to be considered part of the genre.

Catherine Miles (Elvire Audray) is a beautiful 18-year old taken captive by a group of savages after her parents are killed on a river trip. Sold to a member of the tribe for the sum of 'a goose, a water-dog and a turtle', Catherine endures terrible suffering until she is helped by Umukai, a warrior who treats her with a bit of respect. After many months spurning Umukai, believing that he was the one who killed her mum and dad, she discovers that others were in fact responsible. Falling in love with her friendly native hunk, she convinces him to help her take revenge on those really responsible.

Amazonia is pretty close in theme to The Man From Deep River, Umberto Lenzi's classic from 1972, but doesn't quite match that one in terms of quality. However, with a fair amount of cheesy gore (several be-headings, blow-darts in the face, some bloody bullet wounds) and loads of female nudity (courtesy of Audray and the native women, some of whom are pretty foxy), fans of this kind of thing should find just about enough to enjoy in this flick to make it worth a watch.

Recommended to fans of exploitation. Despite its camp it has aged well. It shies away from the usual gore of cannibal films and focuses more on the characters. Very entertaining.

Not the worst film of the jungle films that came out in the 80's, but not very good either. A young girl goes on a boat trip with her parents in the Amazon and is ambushed, the parents are slaughtered and she is taken by the natives. Once in the native's custody she conforms to their ways and falls for one of the tribesman, but still has revenge on her mind. Supposedly based on a true story, I find it hard to believe because I've searched for information on this and have found nothing.

Amusing blend of shock horror and soapy pseudo-documentary style drama, laughably claiming to be based on true events. You get slo-mo romantic scenes with people skipping through grass to the sounds of musak, then in the next scene you get eviscerations, beheadings, and eyeball violence. It's a failure on most levels, but it isn't boring or unwatchable at all. It's pretty good for heckling.

This is definitely one of the weaker films of the 70's/80's jungle exploitation era. The whole love story between Catherine and Umukai was pretty unbelievable, and the action scenes were mediocre at best. Will leave the gorehounds unsatisfied to top it all off.

The story of a girl who went home to visit her family in the amazon. Her Aunt & Uncle plot to kill her family, she survives the attack, and is kidnapped by Indian head hunters. They teach her the way's of survival, and she returns to kill her Aunt & Uncle, and face western civilazation law.

Pretty tame. No people eating. Some exploding heads and axehandling.

The part were she was shocked by a puma eating monkey was unrealistic. She saw her parents beheaded for christ sake.

'Amazonia' is a flawed, but extremely violent, surprisingly intelligent and mainly very entertaining exploitation classic.

My copy of this was billed as CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST 2. Has nothing to do with CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, and nothing to really offer as far as a horror movie. Some okay gore, and a lot of simple nonsense really.

Not a bad piece of jungle exploitation, the killing scenes were pretty impressive and for the most part, a little bit here and there and it would have been more exciting.
