Critic Reviews for As I Am
Some artful framing and golden-hour cinematography from Stefan Yap, as well as some soothing musical montages from the writer-director Guy Davies are not enough to overcome the achingly familiar nature of this teenage coming-of-age tale.
Philophobia hails from a bygone era to which we must never return.
As the movie slowly trudges to its predictable ending. Pity because it is a well-shot and well-acted movie otherwise.
Skilfully shot in rural England, this drama evokes that adolescent mix of confidence and uncertainty.
Director Guy Davies shows a great deal of skill in Philophobia. His story is clean and easy to follow with a good balance between light and serious moments, and best of all, he lets his actors act.
