Barefoot in the Park (1967)

Critic Consensus: Barefoot in the Park may strike some modern viewers as dated, but what it lacks in timeliness, it more than makes up with the effervescent chemistry between its stars.

The movie is full of physical details that I found impossible to believe.

Barefoot in the Park is one of the few plays to be reincarnated on-screen while playing on the Broadway stage. Happily, it loses little in transition.

Audience Reviews for Barefoot in the Park

Jane Fonda really intrigues me as an actress. She's so obnoxious and noisy and loud and annoying it's no wonder Robert Redford couldn't tolerate her towards the end. But he eventually returns, drunk and barefoot in the park, because there's something truly compelling about her ... I wouldn't call it charm, more like spunk. This is a surprisingly vulgar movie, what with the time period and genre, and really gives you a picture of what it was like to live in the 1960s, slightly exaggerated of course.

An excellent comedy with an excellent cast and an excellent story. The story is actually more like a story for a drama, but all the funny things that happen make it a comedy, it's brilliant. This movie is fun, I really like it.
