Critic Reviews for Beau Sabreur
It may not have that ingenious suspense that dominated Beau Geste, but it is not a film that one cares to turn away from, not even for the fraction of a second. Excellent direction, thoughtful casting and fine acting are contained in this offering.
Although Beau Sabreur is announced as a sequel to Beau Geste, it is no more than a pallid counterfeit of Herbert Brenon's stalwart melodrama.
Gary Cooper, Evelyn Brent, Noah Beery and that veteran old renegade, William Powell, go through the necessary motions without, believe it or not, any tremendous effect.
Those who have been waiting in expectation of seeing a fitting sequel to Beau Geste are sure to be disappointed here. The intention may have been good to equal it or surpass it, but the story simply isn't there.
