Mr. Young, who also wrote the script, teases out the story in bits of coy hints and half-truths about a tragic accident, leaving too many questions unanswered.
I can't say I wasn't absorbed and troubled by much of this film.
Circumstances that might have been static in less skilled hands are given tantalizing life by Young, the actors and the deft camerawork of cinematographer Ryan Balas.
A profoundly sensitive look at love, loss and loneliness.
Control and emotional intensity are perfectly balanced in John G. Young's bwoy, a minimalist indie in which action is largely mediated by phones and screens.

Bwoy delves into deep-seated issues concerning intimacy, race, identity and trust in what seems to be a relevant cautionary tale about the tangled distortions involved in today's online dating world.
