Critic Reviews for Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice

Corn II is so despicable that it makes the lowly Children of the Corn flick from '84 look good.

All in all, it is entertaining which is more than can be said about the first one. That one suffered from uncontrollable dullness, which makes "The Final Sacrifice" a sequel that is better than the original. That isn't a high mark, but it's something.

For some reason I found this movie okay.

Only the first worthless sequel in a big, long line of 'em.

Audience Reviews for Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice

"What is all this shit about the corn?" Uninspired schlock, Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice is a convoluted sequel that only serves to muddle up the series. After the events of the last film the surviving children of Gatlin are taken to the next town over and placed in foster care, but the call of the corn raises up another prophet to carry on the cleansing of the adult impurity. The story is poorly written and the characters aren't very interesting. Additionally, some reconning is done in order to make this plot work (to the extent that it does), but in the end it just creates a bunch of inconsistences and over explains what's best left ambiguous. Poorly made and horribly executed, Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice is a desperate attempt to turn a one-off B-horror film into a series.

Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice is just as good as the original. The film has an entertaining plot with a decent cast of actors. I enjoyed this film, and thought for a sequel, was pretty good. Story is a bit more developed this time around, and director David Price steadily and effectively builds the tension with good gore and good scares. The film succeeds where so many other sequels have failed. There are good, horrifying elements here, and the script is well written and the scares are plentiful with a good dose of blood and gore. This is where this sequel, along with others differ significantly from the first film, its use of violence to help create the terror. Sure the firs film was violent, but it relied more on suspense and tension to effectively build up the terror in the viewer. The result is a good sequel that is just as good as the first one, but the use of more blood and gore adds an effective air of tension. Sure, the film could have used without the gore, but sometimes it's good to try new things, and for this franchise. The film a good entry in the series and is very entertaining, unfortunately, many people overlook this film, and the series in general. This is a good horror film that should appeal to fans of the first, and is definitely an underrated film. Worth watching and is a good horror sequel.

This is just stupid. Isn't it enough with evil religious kids killing adults?....isn't that scary enough? we really need this "he-who-walks-behind-the-rows"-fella? and do they really need to show that he really exist? in some kind of form...that just shows us that the kids where right...they aren't crazy...stupid. Some of the killing scenes was okay though.
