A teen comedy with heart.
"Class Rank" is a late bloomer that takes time to find its footing, but once it does, it proves to be as stealthily likable as its characters.
You'll recognise elements of Rushmore's Max Fischer and Election's Tracy Flick in its young hero and heroine, for a start - but Stoltz and writer Benjamin August provide enough quirky individuality to keep things fresh.

If John Hughes had made a version of Election for millenials, the end result would be Class Rank.
This could have been just another generic coming-of-age, high school romcom, but it's surprisingly sweet, honest, and lovable; it feels as fresh and bracing as a brand-new John Hughes movie.
