Another tv pilot released to home video by Worldvision. James Bond inspired plot that was, unfortunately, never picked up for a network run. The fate of the world hangs in the balance as American Agent Diamond Head battles counter Agent Tree in pursuit of lethal gas developed by marine scientists--it seems to be just another day at the office for Diamond Head. Nice Hawaiian setting.

Liked this tv pilot involving secret service agents. Agent Diamondhead thwarts a plot by enemy agent Tree to steal a dangerous biological weapon from American hands with help from Zulu and Dragon Lady. NBC green-lighted "Grandpa Goes to Washington" over this highlighting a dismal period where the network was dominated by ABC in the ratings war.

Pointless TV movie that doesn't make sense or offers any enjoyment. The characters are flat, the plot goes nowhere, and the acting is poor.

Here's a rare case of me giving a bad movie a slightly higher rating because of the presence of one person: Ian McShane. Code Name: Diamond Head is a made-for-tv espionage thriller of sorts but doesn't do much to excite or thrill and is mainly an exercise in boredom. The only truly good thing about it is an early lead performance from Ian McShane, who is of course as magnetic as he always is. Maybe it's just because I'm an enormous fan of Deadwood and he owns his role in that show, but either way, he's the reason to see this movie and there's really not many other reasons outside of that. Mystery Science Theater 3000 fans will of course recognize the title, as they did a nice little riffing on it. Otherwise, skip it.

Hilariously bad acting (apart from Ian McShane) and a very weird and intrusive soundtrack make this made-for-tv movie a real stinker. Luckily the MSTing makes it bearable.
