Despite all three leads pulling their weight, the scenes only build up tepid dramatic heat and offer no real Rashomon-style perspective shifts.
Despite committed performances by Moyer as the desperate Victor and Meaney as the alternately concerned and bewildered cleric, there are problems that the actors can't solve solely through their work.
A solid small-scale thriller.
Whatever finale all this is headed towards, one can't help but feel writer-director David Beton's going to ensure that it's a cheat and a let-down at the same time. Which it is.
Confession has things that the audience may never see coming.
An intriguing setup is never made the most of in this patchy thriller.
