Daddy's Home (2015)

Critic Consensus: Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg have proven comedic chemistry, but Daddy's Home suffers from a dearth of genuinely funny ideas - and lacks enough guts or imagination to explore the satirical possibilities of its premise.

Critic Reviews for Daddy's Home

All Critics (123) | Top Critics (39)

It's Ferrell and Wahlberg who keep this engine revving like it does, a statement that shouldn't come as a shock for all of those who watched the pair's 2010 hit The Other Guys.

Begins with an interesting premise but does not pack in enough satire into its contrived and predictable screenplay.

That's one problematic comedy.

January 7, 2016 | Rating: 2/4

While sweet and occasionally waggish, it's too predictable to transcend mindless entertainment.

Audience Reviews for Daddy's Home

Not amazing in any particular way, but surprisingly sweet and honest about fatherhood in addition to its laughs, a few of which were really big in my experience.

Wahlberg and Ferrell exude oodles of chemistry as two men in competition with one another in this lighthearted romp about fatherhood, which is little more than an extended set of good cop, bad cop. There's more than a smile and a chuckle here.

Everyone I know seems to have loved this, but I wasn't all that impressed. Starts off okay but goes rapidly downhill. The whole premise is flawed. I know it's a comedy, but as if the wife would seriously have her crazy ex husband to stay knowing full well he is trying to cause trouble in her marriage. The fertility stuff gave me the icks too. A few small laughs, but overall I was just waiting for this one to finish.
