This is incredibly well-made. It is everything a supernatural mystery thriller should be.

From the guy who worked with Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Visually stunning and has a memorable villian. Alot of the extreme close ups were off putting.

It is certainly not a thought-provoking movie but a movie to let the imagination fly. Like the early Caro-Jeunet collaborations, "Vidocq" is a dark fantasy for the inner child that still wants to venture in worlds of wonder. This Gothic tale of mystery and suspense is the perfect antidote to the mindless action films of the last decades.

Dark murder mystery of epic steampunkery proportions. Moody, contrasty and artistic cinematography.

Expected it to jump the shark, but short of some over done flash cinematography... i enjoyed it a great deal.

Would have been able to make it thru this IF it had been subtitled, instead of subbed over in English. looked like it would have been really good. :( but couldn't make it thru it.

Great use of the green screen! I enjoyed the story-telling method. The choreography in the fight scenes could have used a little work but were still quite entertaining. The characters didn't have too much depth (other than the biographer and Vidocq). AMAZING work on the sets and queuing up camera angles. The whole movie was a bit surreal thanks to the camera work!
