If the series could commit to examining the necessary politics that surround it, Deliverance Creek loves its trappings enough to have a bank-robbing good time with them.

As presented, it simply feels like Lifetime saw Sparks' name and decided to cast Deliverance Creek into the waters of primetime - with too many paddles rowing in different directions.

Let's hope it gets less murky.

Characters and conflicts pile in as if this were the last bus off the island, and arrive at nothing that constitutes either an ending (to any of its many strands) nor, in its inconclusiveness, a statement about life, or people, or ambiguity or anything.

Deliverance Creek is tense and dramatic, filled with impossible choices of an unimaginable time. Strong female roles dominate the story, each representing not just her singular character but also an entire group of women from this period in history.
The perhaps too-eventful plot, from creator Melissa Carter, involves runaway slaves and rogue bank-robbing Rebels and ends with a heap of cliffhangers, so let's hope for the Internet's sake that Lifetime finds a way to keep this story going.
