Deutschland. Ein Sommermärchen (Germany: A Summer's Fairytale) Reviews
The film covers both the preparation and the actual tournament. In a very emotional way Wortmann closely captures intimate moments from players, coaches and other contributors and perfectly shows the ever-present passion and euphoria within the country back then.
It follows the players in their hotel rooms, to tactical meetings and even in the locker rooms and you get an idea what happens in their minds.
I'm Austrian and therefore German is the natural rival and especially when it comes to football I don't have much sympathy for them but even I have to admire their professionalism. You get such a close look at them - you can't help but starting to like them. That's quite an achievement.
I still cry, when i see Germany losing against Italy :(
