This film is really not so much about [Garcia Lorca] as about memory and history -- about how poets are given most of their power not by those who love them, but by those who fear them.
Contrived murder mystery focusing on the mysterious death of the esteemed Spanish poet and playwright Federico Garcia Lorca.
The only thing to be said for The Disappearance of Garcia Lorca is that it features some excellent performances by the most accomplished Latino actors working in film today.
The script is alive with vivid imagery when reading directly from Lorca's poetry. In contrast, the rest of the flat dialog has little resonance.
