In this film, Thornton Sayer is a perfectionist professor of literature at a sedate Midwestern university. Widowed and with a pretty daughter, Sayer has not told anyone about his past. But thanks to television, everyone discovers that Sayer is actually Bruce Blair, a former silent-screen star.
