An extremely early slasher film, Effects also delves into the faux-snuff-film genre, which experienced a brief heyday in the 70s and has a seen a resurgence with the found footage genre. Ultimately, Effects feels more like a 70s exploitation film than the slasher genre that was about to overtake theaters for the next few years; however, all the basic elements of the slasher genre are basically in place. While not a great film by any means, Effects will delight fans of early slasher films or 70s exploitation cinema who don't mind bad acting, contrived plots, and weak special effects.

Makes TROLL 2 look like Hamlet. I've cleaned better things out of my cat's litter box

Not a particularly great movie, but if you are a fan of 70s independent cinema, particularly thrillers/horror, and especially from Pittsburgh (that is, George Romero!), then this is worth a look. Romero was not involved, but a lot of his alumni were, incl. Tom Savini, Joe Pilato, and the rarely seen John Harrison (composer of the Creephow soundtrack) as the cold-hearted director of the films-within-a-film. Almost everyone pulls double or triple duty behind the camera, incl. composer Harrison with a somewhat Creepshow-esque soundtrack. The film was never distributed theatrically or on VHS, and the DVD has some interesting behind-the-scenes extras.

Sometimes confusing flix but that happens sometimes when you're shooting a movie w/in a movie. Should have been called 'Duped'.

Many familiar names and faces for George Romero fans, but don't expect Romero quality. It's boring and lame.

I wish I could watch every movie ever made but I sadly don't have the time. I'm not interested in this movie because I don't think I'll like it or don't know enough about it to think I might like it. I may still end up seeing it some day though.

So so film that is purposely (I hope!!) slow paced as it introduces a very small film crew creating a film, only to have another film crew filming them in would could potentially be a snuff film. Wires get crossed, confusion sets in alot, but hey, it's got Tom Savini and a bunch of coke. Meh.
