[Set up] for a creative chase scenario, although the film has too many weak elements that impede its smooth progression.
Lay's subbing of the Dumont Dunes near Death Valley National Park for a vast and dazzling Middle Eastern desert is something to behold, and Klein proves himself a nimble alternate for action-oriented filmmakers who can't afford Bradley Cooper.
While a smart choice on the directorial front, as an audience member, having a limited number of characters stranded in the blazing desert, that can't decide whether or not to make a joke or tell a thrilling story, makes it a tough, repetitive watch.
