Critic Reviews for Gutland
It fascinatingly blurs the line between fantasy and reality, from the eerie intro all the way through to a surprise finale that raises goosebumps.
[Director Govinda] Van Maele is in no rush to get to the climax and he takes a long time to begin to build suspense, but the slow burn pays off in the end.
You'll have a much better time with this movie if you go in knowing it's more of a mystery than a thriller; it's unusual, but never boring.
The ingredients for a good yarn are here: too bad Maele's focus is on getting that perfect shot.
Audience Reviews for Gutland
Here is what happens when you try to combine many different ideas but fail to extract truth from the whole, ending up with an uneven collection of scenes that work better separately but together only lead to a frustrating conclusion that feels weirdly thin, ambiguous and incomplete.
