I love this movie! It's so intriguing and griping and keeps you on the edge of your seat! It's a very good representation of Frank E. Peretti's book! It was very well done and acted, I love it! I'd suggest it to anyone.
I think this was my first thriller-type movie. I thought of spiders for days. However, it's much more than a thriller and a very cute movie too. I think my least favorite part is the end, where the 'outsiders' are brought in and taught to be the same as everybody else. however, that doesn't seem to be a focus of the film at all.
I liked the concept of this movie: a family that investigates supernatural events. The execution of the idea led much to be desired. Too much of the movie was cliched and unbelievable. The family all arriving at the school at the same time, not trying to hide that they are all connected, yet still being able to get kids to trust them... it all combined to stretch the credibility to the limits. The Christian themes were very welcome, however as a result, you just knew there would be a resolution that was not supernatural. The acting is merely okay. Watch it on a slow night and keep your expectations on the lower end.
Then movie was meant to battle bullying and to tell people that they don't have to change who they are to be loved. However, the "goth" kids stop wearing their black clothes, and the girl stops wearing makeup. They even take out their piercings. This completely contradicts the idea of the movie. Plus you figure out who the villain is less than half way through the movie. I was thoroughly disappointed by this film.
