Movie Info

In this shop, these people may be pawning far more than they bargained for: Brendan Fraser (THE MUMMY), Elijah Wood (THE LORD OF THE RINGS), Vincent D'Onofrio (MEN IN BLACK), Academy Award (R) nominee Matt Dillon (CRASH), Norman Reedus ("The Walking Dead), Thomas Jane ("Hung"), Lukas Haas (INCEPTION), and Paul Walker (THE FAST & THE FURIOUS), star in 3 twisted tales all connected by items from a Southern small-town pawn shop. A man searching for his kidnapped wife, a couple of white-supremacist meth heads, and a sad-sack Elvis impersonator, plus more desperate characters come to life in the action-packed and hilarious story written by Adam Minarovich and from the director of THE COOLER and RUNNING SCARED, Wayne Kramer. The problem with "Pawn Shop Chronicles" is not the fact that it is a clone of "Pulp Fiction." The problem is that it is a lousy clone.

A hillbilly grindhouse yawp of a movie that belches in your face and leaves a sour stink.

It gets pretty tiring watching decent actors indulge in such broad and unfunny caricatures.

Nearly two decades after its release, "Pulp Fiction" is still inspiring imitators.

A fine cast is wasted in this lurid, grindhouse-style effort that strains for both laughs and shocks.

These stories collectively amount to little more than a portrait of rural life as a redneck nightmare wherein people are very stupid or very evil.

The movie is a big mess all together. Director, Wayne Kramer is think was trying to pull off what Quentin Tarantino or Joe Carnahan have pulled off in the the past but just mixes dark humor, brutality, vulgarity in a unsuccessful and less compelling way possible. Now Paul Walkers segment was indeed entertaining and funny but after that the film has no vibe or energy and is a waste of a good cast and a directors talent.
