Movie Info

Four surfers are looking for both the perfect wave and spiritual enlightenment in this documentary. Filmmaker and surf enthusiast Marshall K. Hattori and his friends Christian Enns, Stephen Slater, and Veronica Kay set out on an international expedition, riding the waves in Hawaii, Australia, Brazil, Morocco, Sri Lanka, Chile, and the Canary Islands. In their travels, Hattori and his pals take a long look at the inequalities in the world around them, and meet other surfers who are also crossing the globe and looking for answers. In time, Hattori takes off on his own for a spiritual pilgrimage with a pair of holy men, who help him achieve a greater understanding of the link between the physical and supernatural worlds. "Sadhana," incidentally, is an Indian term that describes the elation one can reach through meditation.
